Creative HQ, a Wellington-based start-up incubator and accelerator, was established in 2003.

It creates high growth ventures, fuelling New Zealand’s innovation economy through programmes it runs for entrepreneurs at all levels – start-ups, corporate businesses and government agencies.

We love the opportunity to help entrepreneurs and creative thinkers. We provide a variety of legal advice to Creative HQ, its current programme attendees and alumni including help with intellectual property, patents, property rights and structuring crowd funding campaigns. We also hold in-house information sessions, providing valuable legal insight for start-ups.

There are many benefits to Chapman Tripp from our Creative HQ partnership: we get to work with start-ups and entrepreneurs; our people get the opportunity to work in the fast-paced and creative start-up sector; we get to learn more about the attributes that are important to start-up businesses and how we can better achieve our NZ Inc goals; and we get to enjoy developing personal relationships with Creative HQ team members.Geof Shirtcliffe, Creative HQ relationship partner

Creative HQ has evolved its incubator and added acceleration and innovation programmes, which it now runs nationally to create high growth ventures that fuel New Zealand’s innovation economy. This includes the Lightning Lab, a three-month accelerator programme for digital start-up ventures in Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington.
