Anthony specialises in public law and commercial litigation and dispute resolution.

He advises a wide range of clients in the public and private sectors, and has particular expertise in public sector decision-making and the exercise of statutory powers. He represents clients in judicial reviews, declaratory proceedings and Privacy Act claims, as well as a wide range of commercial disputes, including tort and equitable claims.

Anthony completed post-graduate studies at the University of Oxford before joining Chapman Tripp. Prior to that he was a junior barrister at Thorndon Chambers, and a judges’ clerk at the Court of Appeal.

  • Represented New Zealand Steel in proceedings relating to the Iron and Steel Industry Act.
  • Appeared in the Human Rights Review Tribunal on a Privacy Act claim.
  • Represented James Hardie in class action product liability claims.
  • Advised various statutory entities and government departments on exercise of statutory powers, decision-making and policy processes.
  • Advised the Auckland Regional Amenities Board on drafting and progression of a Private Bill.
