Specialising in commercial property matters, Matt advises clients on a range of commercial property matters with a focus on acquisitions, disposals and leasing.
Matt works with clients across a wide range of areas, from carrying out transactions, to managing the development process and providing advice generally. He also helps with property disputes and contentious issues with a recent focus on the impact of COVID-related legislation.
Before joining Chapman Tripp, Matt worked at a boutique property-focused law firm where he gained an understanding of the development process and the practical issues that arise when dealing with matters relating to property. He enjoys getting to know clients to understand their wider aims and values.

- Acting for an international client with regards to their ongoing projects to develop a number of large scale solar power farms within the wider Auckland region.
- Assisting on due diligence reporting and lease negotiations related to the sale of an Auckland-based supermarket chain.
- Managing a large scale residential development in Whenuapai, Auckland from the drafting of the pre-sale agreement, to the negotiation of agreements, through to sell down.
- Managing all lease-related matters for a North Shore, Auckland based corporate with a commercial property portfolio valued in excess of NZ$1b.
