Georgie is a member of Chapman Tripp’s Climate, Sustainability and ESG practice, supporting clients in managing legal and reputational non-financial risk. Georgie has over ten years’ experience in ethical and legal risk gained on and offshore.

Prior to joining Chapman Tripp, Georgie spent six years at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, most recently as Senior Legal Counsel. There, Georgie advised key stakeholders within the $1.3 billion New Zealand Aid Programme on commercial contracts and in managing organisational and legal risk. Georgie routinely represented New Zealand in complex negotiations with the United Nations, Pacific regional bodies and large corporations. Georgie also led the New Zealand Aid Programme’s carbon emissions measurement portfolio – the first of its kind globally. Georgie has acted as in-house counsel for large commercial law firms in London, consulted for European NGOs on complex humanitarian and environmental investigations, participated in a United Nations Human Rights Programme and acted as a Special Advisor to Ministers on Anti-Money Laundering legislation. Georgie began her career representing Iwi in Treaty of Waitangi litigation.
