We believe that our people’s unique experiences, different perspectives and paths they have taken with Chapman Tripp, make us the leading law firm that we are today. The work experience and foundational support we provide at Chapman Tripp is the base for our people to create their own journey during their time in the firm.

People have said to me, “you’ll work with some of the greatest legal minds,” but I never quite understood what they meant until I got here, where it is evident that you are mentored, trained and surrounded by people who are at the top of their field. The people at Chapman Tripp want to see you succeed and this is shown through their dedication and the time they invest in Summer Clerks.
– Lucia, Summer Clerk
Our responsibility to our community, environment & others
We invest in a more resilient and more sustainable Aotearoa New Zealand. Having a flourishing and reciprocal relationship with the community and environment that we live and work in is central to us and has been throughout our history.
We are proud to play an active role within the communities in which we work. We do this through pro bono work, financial support, community involvement (volunteering) and sustainability initiatives.
Read more about our culture and our values, our Community initiatives and about our sustainability commitments.
We have several committees and groups that engage our people in different initiatives to make our firm a more collaborative, inclusive and sustainable place to work, including Wellbeing, Rainbow and Social committees. They are made up of people from each of our offices, across all levels and departments. We encourage clerks to get involved!
Supporting university societies
We are proud to support over 20 university clubs and societies nationwide, spanning a wide range of areas. Some of these clubs include Rainbow Law, Women in Law, Asian Law Students’ Association, Pacific Island Law Students’ Association, and many Māori law societies including Te Rakau Ture, Te Aro Ture, Te Roopū Whai Pūtake, Ngā Rangahautira and Te Whakahiapo.
Every year, we review our sponsorship arrangements to ensure the groups we are supporting align with the following principles:
- They connect us with a diverse range of law students,
- They support and create social and/or academic opportunities for students,
- They align with our firm values,
- They promote diversity across all areas, and
- They help students bridge the gap between university and the ‘working world’.
