Ellen advises on competition law matters, drawing on extensive experience across leading international private practice and senior regulatory enforcement roles.
Ellen advises on merger control, competition enforcement, authorisations and market studies, with experience across a range of sectors and complex, high-profile matters.
Previously, Ellen worked in the competition practices of Linklaters and Sidley Austin in London before joining the New Zealand Commerce Commission, where she led competition enforcement investigations and assessed authorisation applications.
She has also contributed to international competition law discussions, including speaking at International Competition Network conferences in Tokyo and Prague on competition law issues.
Recent highlights
- Leading high-profile New Zealand Commerce Commission investigations involving alleged breaches of sections 27, 28 and 36 of the Commerce Act, as well as assessing applications for authorisation under section 58 of the Commerce Act.
- Advising TowerBrook Capital Partners on the sale of metals recycler Metallo to Aurubis, securing unconditional European Union clearance following a Phase II investigation.
- Advising Amec Foster Wheeler on Phase I clearance of its takeover by John Wood before the UK Competition and Markets Authority.
- Advising Siemens on obtaining unconditional European Union clearance for its acquisition of Gamesa in the wind turbine sector.
- Advising Z Energy on the merger clearance process for its acquisition of Chevron New Zealand (Caltex).
