Environment and planning

Alice specialises in environment, planning and resource management law, advising public and commercial clients across a variety of resource consenting, environmental and planning matters.

Alice's experience includes working for a broad range of infrastructure and development clients, including roading, renewable energy generation and transmission, port infrastructure and retirement villages. Alice has appeared in council hearings and supports clients across a range of planning issues, resource consenting and due diligence investigations.

Recent highlights

  • Advising a New Zealand port on resource consenting for a significant port upgrade (including reclamation, wharf extensions and breakwater works), resulting in the grant of all necessary consents at first instances and the resolution of all subsequent appeals.

  • Advising clients on legislative, regulatory, policy and plan reform processes, including offshore renewable energy legislation, fast-track legislation, and all Tier 1 council enabling housing plan changes.

  • Advising NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi on the designation and resource consenting aspects for Takitimu North Link Stage 2.

  • Undertaking environmental due diligence for large-scale transactions, including for the acquisition of nation-wide telecommunications infrastructure and renewable energy developments.

  • Advising infrastructure providers and businesses in relation to consent compliance, delivery of and opposition to projects under the Resource Management Act and fast-track consenting legislation.
