Fiona specialises in corporate and commercial law, with a particular emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, construction and procurement contracts, joint venture arrangements, takeovers and securities law.

She regularly advises on high-value, business-critical infrastructure and development projects, acting for principals, contractors and suppliers on the full range of project documentation and delivery arrangements.

With considerable experience in procurement and construction law, Fiona has in-depth knowledge of the NEC4 suite of construction contracts and other New Zealand and international standard form procurement and construction contracts.

Has advised:

  • Advising Rio Tinto on the acquisition of the remaining shares in New Zealand Aluminium Smelters from Sumitoto Corporation.
  • Advising Hamilton Hindin Greene on the sale of its business to Craigs Investments Partners.
  • Advising the shareholders of Snap Rentals on the sale of their shares to a Japanese purchaser.
  • Advising Antarctica New Zealand on the procurement strategy and consultancy and procurement contracts for the Scott Base redevelopment project and associated Ross Island Energy Wind Farm project.
  • Advising BESIX Watpac on consultancy, procurement and construction contracts (both upstream and downstream) for Christchurch City Council’s Te Kaha Multi-use Areva Project and Lincoln University’s new student accommodation facility.
  • Advising Burnt Hill Storage on its capital raise, construction contracts and financing arrangements for its storage ponds project. 
  • Advising Christchurch International Airport on project documents with its selected joint venture developer for the Kowhai Park solar farm development.
