Emily specialises in complex commercial litigation and dispute resolution.

She advises on a wide range of contentious matters for domestic and international clients. Emily is experienced in contractual disputes, product liability claims, insurance matters, parent company liability issues and class actions.

Emily has appeared in the High Court and acted in alternative dispute resolution forums.  

She has also provided in-house legal support on a range of commercial matters while on secondment with a banking client.

  • Assisting a leading engineering consultancy firm defend a $100m claim relating to the design of a building that suffered damage during the Kaikōura earthquakes.
  • Assisting a retirement village operator bring proceedings against its insurers relating to a business interruption claim following flood damage to one of its properties. 
  • Assisting the liquidators for an overseas entity preserve interests in New Zealand based assets pending overseas proceedings.
  • Assisted James Hardie defend multiple product liability claims in the weathertightness context, including class action proceedings.
  • Assisted various clients defend breach of contract claims at the High Court, and a tertiary education provider mediate a contractual dispute. 
  • Advised on parent company liability issues arising from a contract involving a subsidiary entity.
