Jayne O'Connell

Jayne has experience advising on a broad range of banking and finance transactions, with a particular focus on restructuring and insolvency transactions.

She advises insolvency practitioners, creditors, distressed companies and directors on all aspects of corporate insolvency processes.

Prior to joining Chapman Tripp, Jayne worked at a leading law firm in Madrid and London. Here she specialised in assisting multi-jurisdictional clients to navigate the complex challenges of financial distress and co-ordinate global transactions.

• Advised a UK retail sector group on the restructuring of its financial indebtedness, implemented by way of an English law scheme of arrangement
• Advised a Taiwanese renewable energy sector group on the restructuring of its financial indebtedness, implemented by way of an English law restructuring plan
• Advised a syndicate of banks in respect of the refinancing the existing corporate facilities of a UK group in the engineering and infrastructure sector
• Advised a Ukrainian agriculture sector group on the negotiation of a standstill with its creditors
• Advised a Spanish shipping sector group on the refinancing of its existing corporate facilities, within the context of a restructuring of its financial indebtedness, implemented by way of a Spanish homologation
• Advised an international retail sector group on hold company financing for a joint-venture with underlying real-property assets in Spain
