The Fair Pay Agreements Act, providing a mechanism to promote collective bargaining on an industry or occupational basis, will come into effect on 1 December.
Industries and occupations which have been identified for coverage are cleaners, supermarkets, bus drivers, hospitality workers and early childhood teachers.
However, it will be a race against time as if National makes government at the next election, it will make repeal of the legislation one of its first priorities.
