Kylie brings a wealth of experience to large-scale domestic and international construction projects across a wide variety of sectors, including infrastructure, energy (including renewable), transport, health, airports and commercial. 

With expertise in large construction projects, Kylie is often called upon to provide advice on public buildings of significance.

Her experience with a wide range of construction contracts (NZS, FIDIC, NEC, bespoke and alliance contracting) as well as ancillary project documents (including consultancy agreements, supply agreements and tender documentation), allows Kylie to assist clients with contract preparation and negotiation on a wide variety of projects. Kylie advises on all aspects of project procurement and works alongside clients on their procurement strategy.

Kylie is known for her ability to cultivate strong rapport and collaborate seamlessly across a broader project team. Her broad industry knowledge means she is adept at providing well contextualised, practical advice that realises her clients’ priorities and challenges.

Recent highlights

  • Working closely with Auckland International Airport Limited on its project to integrate a new domestic terminal in with its international terminal. This project involves multiple interfacing packages, in some instances with a collaborative contracting approach.
  • Working closely with Mercury on numerous construction projects, domestic and international drilling campaigns - including Turitea wind farm - and the procurement of a new turbine (OEC5) for the Ngatamariki geothermal power plant at Reporoa.
  • Assisting Eastland Generation Limited on its TOPP2 Development -a new 49Mwe (net) geothermal power plant at Kawerau (which includes construction, operation and option to purchase)- and its Te Ihi o te Rā solar farm in Tairāwhiti.
  • Regularly assisting Waka Kotahi on alliancing matters, including the East Coast Recovery Alliance for recovery and resilience works following Cyclone Gabrielle and the Riverlink Alliance.
  • Assisting Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand on various hospital development projects including the New Dunedin Hospital, the Waikato Hospital Renal Centre and Acute Mental Health facility and Manukau Health Park at Middlemore Hospital.
  • Assisting Mytilineos on New Zealand law aspects of an EPC contract for a solar farm at Foxton.

Chapman Tripp advises Auckland Airport on new domestic jet terminal

Chapman Tripp is pleased to have advised Auckland Airport on its contract with Hawkins Limited for construction of a new domestic jet terminal building. Expected to be completed in 2029, and valued at approximately $800 million, this will be the major structure in the airport’s terminal integration programme which will provide resilience and capacity to support the future of travel through the airport. Chapman Tripp has advised on all aspects of the project, including assisting Auckland Airport to enter into various early works arrangements, civil works packages and other key packages including the procurement of a new integrated baggage system.
