Chapman Tripp is pleased to have advised Auckland Airport on its contract with Hawkins Limited for construction of a new domestic jet terminal building.
The project involves expanding the existing international terminal building to accommodate the new domestic jet terminal, integrating both terminals under one roof.
Expected to be completed in 2029, and valued at approximately $800 million, this will be the major structure in the airport’s terminal integration programme which will provide resilience and capacity to support the future of travel through the airport – New Zealand’s gateway for international and domestic visitors.
Operational continuity and interface between various other work packages being carried out, or in current pipeline, at the Airport, were key considerations in the contract documents.
Chapman Tripp has advised on all aspects of the project, including assisting Auckland Airport to enter into various early works arrangements, civil works packages and other key packages including the procurement of a new integrated baggage system.
Louise Martin, Head of Legal & Company Secretary at Auckland Airport, said “Chapman Tripp’s pragmatic guidance was crucial in navigating and achieving a successful outcome for this complex contract. The team’s expertise and support were invaluable in advancing Auckland Airport’s significant investment in the terminal integration programme.”
The Chapman Tripp team was led by Partners Hamish Bolland and Kylie Mutch, with support from Partner Sam Holden and other team members Meika McHardy, Max Williams, Andrew Smylie and Gianna Fava.
Hamish Bolland said, “It is a privilege to partner with Auckland Airport on this nationally important project. The new domestic jet infrastructure is a significant step forward in the airport’s commitment to enhancing the travel experience for its customers.”
Chapman Tripp is proud to continue to advise Auckland Airport on critical contracts for its domestic jet terminal, valued in total at around $2.2 billion.
