A commercial property specialist, Michael advises both domestic and international clients on a diverse range of transactions.
Michael regularly advises clients on a variety of commercial property matters, with a particular focus on complex property acquisitions, disposals and leasing. Before joining Chapman Tripp, Michael worked in venture capital, providing him with the insight and ability to assist clients with the commercial drivers and challenges of their businesses.
Recent highlights
- Acting for one of the world’s largest private equity funds on its various joint venture arrangements, associated structures, OIO attendances and acquisitions of multiple commercial properties in New Zealand.
- Assisting Centuria across various major property acquisitions, subdivisions, disposals and leasing work, including its $143m purchase of the Mercury headquarters at 33 Broadway, Auckland.
- Worked with Blackstone on its acquisition of a portfolio of seven Auckland office buildings from Goodman and GIC for $635m, and associated leasing and post-acquisition leasing and other commercial matters.
- Acting for a number of local and international clients on the sale and subdivision of their New Zealand assets.
- Acting for ASX listed Treasury Wine Estates in its New Zealand vineyard acquisitions and disposals.
