Chapman Tripp is honoured to have advised on a number of deals recognised at this year's New Zealand Law Awards.
Financing of Connexa’s acquisition of 2degrees’ mobile cell tower assets won the Project Finance Deal of the Year. Chapman Tripp partner Cathryn Barber and senior associate Jana Hitchcock led the team that advised Connexa on financing of the deal.
The acquisition of Morrison’s NZ infrastructure assets by Amber Infrastructure Group won Mid-Market Deal of the Year. Josh Blackmore, Leigh Kissick, Chris Gilles and Mitchell Souness advised Morrison on the deal.
Demonstrating the breadth of Chapman Tripp’s transactional practices, the firm also advised on eleven deals that were recognised with excellence awards:

- Development and project financing of 63 MW Lauriston solar farm by Genesis Energy and FRV Australia (Project Finance Deal of the Year)
- Social housing project of Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei (Project Finance Deal of the Year)
- Acquisition of 50 percent of Vector's metering business by QIC (M&A Deal of The Year)
- NZ$1.4 billion acquisition of HSBC's New Zealand prime residential mortgage portfolio by Pepper Money (M&A Deal Of The Year)
- Receivership of Opum Technologies (Insolvency and Restructuring Deal of The Year)
- Merger of Kāpura and Joylab Group (Mid-Market Deal of The Year)
Chapman Tripp was also a finalist in the Large Law Firm of The Year and Employer of Choice (>100 Lawyers) categories.
Senior Associate, Kishan Gunatunga was an Excellence Awardee in the Young Private Practice Lawyer of The Year (35 or under) category, for his exceptional work in renewable energy project development and commercial contracting.
