Chapman Tripp is proud to support the Sustainable Business Network (SBN) on the launch of the Tāmaki Taiao Alliance, a new initiative designed to accelerate large-scale nature regeneration across the Tāmaki Auckland region.
The Alliance brings together iwi, community groups, business, philanthropy and government to strengthen collaboration, reduce funding barriers and deliver long-term regional impact.
It will drive coordinated, landscape-scale restoration across seven foundation projects, each mana whenua-led or closely connected to mana whenua. These projects span the region focussing on critical environmental outcomes including improved water quality, restored streams and wetlands, increased tree canopy, pest-free environments, and community employment.
SBN Chief Executive Rachel Brown says the coordinated model is essential to reversing environmental decline at scale. It aims to raise $3 million over its three-year pilot, with $1.4 million secured to date.
Chapman Tripp Community Director, Greer Fredricson said: “We are pleased to support SBN on this important initiative, which seeks to protect and regenerate Auckland’s natural environment through a coordinated and community-centred approach. The Alliance represents a significant step toward restoring ecosystems that are essential to the wellbeing of our region and its people.”
The Tāmaki Taiao Alliance aligns with Chapman Tripp’s commitment to supporting community-driven environmental outcomes through the provision of legal expertise, partnerships and pro bono work.
