Hillary is an experienced corporate lawyer, primarily engaged in mergers and acquisitions, private equity, joint ventures, corporate reorganisations and corporate governance. 

She has extensive experience advising leading private equity funds and other financial investors in New Zealand and internationally, on their acquisitions, divestments and co-investments.

Hillary works across multiple sectors, with particular expertise in healthcare, technology, energy and retail. She advises clients from initial structuring of the deal, through the due diligence phase, to drafting and negotiation of transaction documents, equity arrangements and warranty and indemnity insurance solutions, through completion and post-completion aspects of the deal.

Before returning to New Zealand in 2024, Hillary worked in London for eight years, including three years with US firm White & Case and five years with leading Danish firm Kromann Reumert. During this time, she gained invaluable international experience in complex cross-border transactions and built a large international network.

  • Advising Novo Holdings, the investment arm of the Novo Nordisk Foundation, on its acquisition of the BBI Group, the world's largest independent producer of immuno-diagnostics reagents, from Exponent, a London-based private equity firm*
  • Advising KKR, a global investment firm, on its minority investment in Nordic Bioscience, a biomarker provider for preclinical and clinical drug development*
  • Advising Investcorp, an alternative investment manager, on its divestment of Georg Jensen, a Danish design house, to Fiskars Group, a listed Finnish consumer goods company*
  • Advising EQT, a Swedish global investment firm, on its acquisition of Recover Nordic, a property remediation and environmental services provider, from Agilitas Private Equity*
  • Advising AGIC Capital, a growth-oriented European Asian private equity firm, on its co-investment with Kirk Kapital, a Danish investment firm, to acquire pr Electronics, a leading supplier of signal processing equipment, from founder and selected management*
  • Advising Trill Impact, an impact investment firm, and its portfolio company, Allurity's acquisition of CSIS, a cybersecurity provider*
